you may be from a choir, you may have sang pop songs all your life, you can have a million songs in your ipod or whatever gadget you have..but there comes a day when you realise everything that you've heard, everything you've ever sang in your life..it doesnt matter..because you probably havent really been singing with your heart.
you've probably been singing..wanting to get that award.wanting to get that prize..wanting to hit the note..be on pitch.increase your range..improve the colour of your voice.project using the right way..getting the correct placement.keep to the rhythm.show the dynamics..sing with feeling..
but after all that..when you truly watch a performance of someone singing with true emotions, so true that you can feel it from his voice.you realise that your singing is nothing...its just notes put tgt..
a sad song can be sad..but if the singer doesnt feel the emotions when hes singing..its nothing more than just..a song..thats all..
to be a truly good singer..what differentiates you from the rest is the ability to allow others to understand the meaning of the song..maybe even without understanding the language..its so powerful.
thats why.while we may sit at home thinking.i've got great pitch, i've got a passable voice, large range and an adequate sense of rhythm, why can't i be the one on that stage singing the song in front of the whole crowd.am i not better than that person on stage? well..his pitch fluctuates.it falters.he doesnt really keep to the rhythm.im sure im better than him..
its very possible that what that person on stage has, is the ability to sing with emotions..ability to feel the song running through him and not just sing the notes and dynamics..when ppl do covers of songs, they often think that there has to be some modification of the song..sometimes, they end up changing the song so drastically that the feeling it brought about doesnt exist anymore..thats bad.
coming from my heart..i'll never be the one on that stage..i cant sing with emotions.im just.an empty shell, unable of putting any emotions into the song im singing...im just..another guy..yepp..forever just another guy.
im just happy i realised the true meaning behind singing.
